Up For Discussion

Sunday 10:00 a.m.

Up for Discussion is an adult enrichment class meeting in the Media Center at 10:00 Sunday morning. Books are chosen by group consensus and generally follow the chapter a week rhythm. Previous selections have included topics in theology, Bible study, social justice, and personal spirituality. Everyone is welcome.

The class is hybrid with some meeting in person in the church building and some meeting on Zoom. Click the "Contact Us" button to inquire about more information on this.

On September 20, Up for Discussion is watching and discussing a video of an interview with Adam Nicholson, author of God's Secretaries: The Making of the King James Bible". They will also be discussing books that will be read and discussed this fall.

Women in Community

Wednesday 10:00 a.m.

Women in Community is an adult education group for women of all ages who meet to study and discuss religious, inspirational, and thought-provoking books and videos. They meet weekly on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 in the Media Center. Those who cannot attend in person are welcome to join via Zoom. Examples of previous selections include Jesus for Everyone, The Faith Club, Tatoos on the Heart, and Understanding the Old Testament.

The group is discussing It All Counts: Finding God Everywhere They Told You Not to Look by Natalia Terfa.

Centering Prayer

Thursday 7:30 p.m.

Centering Prayer moves us beyond conversation with Christ to communion with him. In the silence we are invited to 'be still and know that I am God.'

Pastor Robert Abarno, a member of Saint Luke, has been guiding people who are interested in learning about centering prayer for some years, and hosts Thursday evening gatherings on Zoom at Saint Luke Lutheran Church. Centering Prayer meets from 7:30 - 8:30 pm Thursday evenings. All invited!

A relevant book is David Frenette's "The Path of Centering Prayer" (2012)

WELCA - Mary Martha Circle

2nd Tuesday of the month 10:00 a.m.

WELCA is a organization of Lutheran women who gather in more than 7,000 locations in the U.S. and the Caribbean, for service, study, advocacy, fellowship and more! WELCA embraces all kinds of ministries that support our mission of mobilizing women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ. We welcome all to participate in this ministry.

Mary Martha Circle is a group of women who come together for Bible Study, community and world relief service projects, retreats, and many other events. Mary Martha uses the monthly WELCA publication GATHER as a resource for discussion and Bible study.
